The Department of Trade and Industry recently released an interpretive guide to understanding the Broad-based Black Economic Empowerment Act’s Codes of Good Conduct. The dti released this guide on 28 June 2007. Essentially the interpretive guide is nothing more than an elaboration of our explanation given in our article entitled “BEE: Where are we now?” which can be read here. However the Interpretative Guide goes in to much more detail and is intended to be used by the BEE practitioner in furthering his or her understanding on the topic. As a guide, it has no legal standing, but may help in furthering your understanding of the BEE Codes of Good Conduct. For this reason we have posted the dti’s interpretive guide on our website for your ease of reference. Should you however need any further assistance with BEE in your organisation, kindly do not hesitate to contact Rian Geldenhuys. © Trade Law Chambers |
